I Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States

Friday, Oct. 21, 2011The president of Kazakhstan offers to make an anthology of the biggest works creations of Turkic world, prepare the general almanac.

 

- I encourage all the interested parties to take active part in the work of the Turkic academy. The Turkic world unites more than 40 nations and ethnic groups that live in the immense territory of the Eurasian space, stated the president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev at the opening of the first Summit of Cooperation Council of Turkic states in Almaty.

«The Turks, who number 200 million, made a particular contribution to the history and culture of the mankind. Our glorious ancestors left a lasting trace in the world’s art and science. So a lot of work is yet ahead on the further rapprochement of the nations with common roots», - President Nazarbaev noted.

 

According to the president of the state, it is necessary to make an anthology of the biggest creations of the Turkic world, prepare the general almanac. “We must organize the wide-scale event on promoting the outstanding people of our nations. It is necessary to arrange sports contests and theatrical festivals among our youth”, the president of Kazakhstan says.

 

N. Nazarbaev also made several actual proposals. These are the joint promotion of the heritage of outstanding persons of Turkic world, such as Al-Farabi, Zhusup Balasagun, Makhmud Kashgari, Akhmet Yassaui and others; holding of an International symposium “The Turkic world today: the real situation and prospects for development” Turkestan in 2012; organization of cultural events in connection with announcing Astana in 2012 the cultural capital of the Turkic world.

 

Nursultan Nazarbaev emphasized that today the Kazakh land is home to people of 140 ethnicities, living in peace and harmony.

- The sacred shanyrak of all Turks, Kazakhstan, realizes the actual measures in this direction from the first days of its independence. We strictly adhere to the idea of the inter-ethnic harmony and mutual tolerance, the president said.

 

N. Nazarbaev supported the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan concerning the establishing in Baku of the Cultural Foundation of Turkic-speaking states. This will stimulate development of cultural ties between our states.

 

The President noted that the determination of the economic cooperation of Turkic-speaking state is the key topic of the meeting. The spiritual congeniality of Turkic-speaking states must become the basis in strengthening the mutually advantageous economic cooperation, for which the Turkic world avails of sufficient natural resources, fertile land, water and energy resources.

- The main thing we need is our will and determination for uniting and cooperation. Only in this case we can be among the leading competitive states of the world, the president said. Following the results of the summit they signed the final Almaty Declaration that determines the coordinated position of Turkic-speaking states on international and regional issues, basic trends of economic and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.They also adopted the Rules of procedures of the Turkic Council.

 

The head of the state noted that the adopted documents are to raise the status of uniting and determine the bases of multilateral cooperation. - It is a great honor for Kazakhstan to be the first chairman of the Turkic council. We direct out general efforts to make Turkic states closer, to increase the efficient work of the Organization and status of the Council. According to the decision of the heads of delegations the next Summit will take place in Bishkek, Nursultan Nazarbaev said.

 

According to the press-service of the President of Kazakhstan, the following participated in the Summit: the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliev, the President of Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbaeva and vice Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag.

 

The International organization Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states was founded by the Nakhichevan agreement dated October 3, 2009. The participants of the agreement are the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey.
